Parky Lau offers assessment and psychotherapy for a range of mental health concerns, including depression, generalized anxiety, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, emotion regulation difficulties, and sleep-related issues such as insomnia, circadian rhythm sleep-wake disorders, and nightmare disorder. He also supports individuals navigating life transitions and burnout.
His clinical approach is patient-centered and tailored to each person’s goals and values. He provides evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based interventions.
Parky earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Toronto Metropolitan University and completed his clinical residency at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, where he trained in the Mood and Anxiety Ambulatory Services and the Borderline Personality Disorder Clinic. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
Throughout his career, Parky has taught courses at Toronto Metropolitan University and Stanford Continuing Studies, and he has delivered talks to various workplaces and educational institutions. He is the author of a book on evidence-based treatments for chronic insomnia and has written widely on topics related to mental health.
