Joanna Smoley, MSW, RSW

Joanna Smoley is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She has twenty years of therapy experience, working with adults with a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, perfectionism, interpersonal stressors, trauma, relational stressors, lifestyle transitions, and fertility.
Ms. Smoley has been providing individual and group Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to adults with mood disorders (e.g. depression and bipolar) and anxiety (e.g. generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic, health anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder) at St. Joseph’s Health Centre since 2005. She also provides clinical supervision to psychiatry residents completing their CBT training. Ms. Smoley also has advanced training and experience running interpersonal psychodynamic psychotherapy groups. Trust, authenticity, direct feedback, and therapist transparency inform all of her work with her clients.
Ms. Smoley has her Masters of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. She is a Lecturer with the University of Toronto’s Department of Psychiatry. In addition to being a member of the OCSWSSW, she is a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
