Dr. Baerveldt offers psychological assessment and therapy to adults and young adults wishing to better understand and manage their mental health symptoms or life challenges. With almost 10 years experience working in clinical and health psychology in hospitals and the community, Dr. Baerveldt understands the interplay between body and mind, and works with clients to identify and engage with what matters to them. With an atmosphere of calm and acceptance, she integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based approaches to suit clients’ needs. First and foremost, she strives to build a shared understanding of clients’ individual experiences and a safe place from which to build a path forward.
Dr. Baerveldt completed her graduate training at OISE at the University of Toronto in child clinical psychology, including parent and family interventions. During her internship she focused on pediatric and adult health psychology at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. She then completed a 2-year postdoctoral clinical fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children, focusing on the treatment of mental health and adjustment in the context of chronic medical conditions. Dr. Baerveldt also works as a clinical and health psychologist treating persistent pain in adolescents at a UHN hospital where she supervises new clinicians.
Dr. Baerveldt is pleased to offer adult and young adult assessment and treatment at the Downtown Psychology Clinic under peer supervision of Dr. Kathryn Walker.
