Dr. Betty Luk, C.Psych.

Psychologist

Dr. Luk has been practicing as a clinical psychologist in Hong Kong since 2008, before she returned to Toronto and joined the Downtown Psychology Clinic. She works with adults, adolescents and children who experience various difficulties including grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, stress management, parenting concerns, interpersonal challenges as well as adjustment to life transitions or stressors. She is also passionate in supporting individuals who are adjusting to and coping with medical conditions and chronic illnesses including cancer. She integrates evidence-based treatment approaches, primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-based interventions. Dr. Luk values authenticity, respect, and collaboration in her practice. She focuses on building safe and trusting alliances with clients for emotional processing, self-understanding and growth.

Dr. Luk received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She has worked with individuals across age groups in numerous settings, including children and families at a non-government organization specializing in services for high functioning autism, adults with common mental disorders in a psychiatric fast-track clinic, and patients and families in palliative care units and general medical hospital settings. She is also a member of the Ontario Psychological Association.
