Psychologist in Supervised Practice

Dr. Amy Walsh is a Clinical Psychologist in Supervised Practice, and completed her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at Newcastle University in the UK. Amy’s clinical interests are diverse, with a particular focus on the assessment and treatment of eating disorders. She also has extensive experience working with a range of mental health difficulties including depression, anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, bipolar disorder, sleep problems, body image disturbance, post-traumatic stress disorders, as well as working with long-term health conditions. Amy also has extensive experience working with neurodevelopmental conditions including Autism Spectrum Disorders and ADHD.

Amy has worked in various inpatient and outpatient mental health settings for adults, children and adolescents. Some of these settings have included a specialized neurodevelopmental conditions assessment clinic, a long-term physical health conditions team, and at a specialist eating disorder team for adolescents.

Amy takes a holistic and person-centred approach to care. She integrates several treatment modalities into her work, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systemic Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy.

In addition to her clinical work, Amy was a special lecturer at Teesside University in the UK, delivering sessions on trauma-informed care. Her teaching reflects her dedication to fostering an understanding of the principles of trauma-informed practice among healthcare professionals. Amy has also conducted research in the field of intellectual disabilities at the Division of Psychiatry, University College London, further solidifying her expertise in understanding and addressing the needs of neurodiverse populations.

Amy is currently being supervised by Dr. Kathryn Walker, C.Psych.
